What is Big Break?

Big Break is a one day audition process where candidates compete to become a healthcare IT trainer instruct healthcare personnel on the use an electronic medical record program.  As a result of Big Break, candidates will get their Big Break into healthcare IT.

 

Why is Big Break a big deal?

Big Break gives professionals with little to no Healthcare IT experience the chance to compete for a unique career opportunity; a Big Break into the Healthcare IT industry.  Big Break is a big opportunity.

Did you know there are more Healthcare IT jobs then there are qualified individuals to fill them? If selected, Big Breakers will gain the skills and experience to apply for these in demand positions.

I’m interested! What are the job requirements?

Required qualifications:

  • Written and verbal fluency in the English language
  • Advanced computer knowledge
  • College degree, equivalent technical/professional certification or military experience
  • Exceptional presentation and public speaking skills
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • Poise and professionalism
  • Analytic and organizational skills
  • Ability to learn quickly and proven test taking aptitude
  • Experience working in groups and/or teams
  • Flexible schedule, including the ability to work nights and weekends
  • Experience with the entire Microsoft Office Suite

Desired qualifications:

  • Healthcare experience or knowledge
  • IT experience
  • Epic experience
  • Leadership or management experience

Healthcare IT or previous IT experience is NOT required.

What can I expect at Big Break?

Contestants will advance or face elimination as they are routed through Big Break’s exhilarating audition phases including: speed interviews, a videoed Q&A session and a presentation. Contestants will be evaluated on their professionalism, presentation skills, communication skills, poise, attitude, teamwork and ability to think on their feet.

How should I prepare?

Bring your resume!  Other than that, no need to prepare! We’re looking for someone who is quick on their feet and can work under pressure. However, professional appearance, behavior and attire are expected.

What if I’m selected?

Selected contestants will be awarded a full-time, short-term employment opportunity.  Trainers will begin their contract employment by attending an 8 – 10 week, all-day credentialing course. Course work includes classroom and eLearning training modules, proficiency assessments, evaluations, shadowing and presentations. Successful completion of credentialing course is a requirement for employment.
